University of Michigan

The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (commonly referred as Michigan, U-M) is a public research university located in state of Michigan in United States. It is oldest university of state and flagship campus of University of Michigan. It also includes two regional campuses in Flint and Dearborn. The university was founded in 1817 in Detroit as Catholepistemiad or University of Michigania, almost 20 years before Michigan Territory formally became a state. Since its establishment in Ann Arbor, the university has physically expanded to include more than 584 major buildings with combined areas of more than 31 million gross square feet (712 acres or 2.38 Km2). It transforms its academic programs from a strictly classical curriculum to one that includes science and research. During 20th century and early 2000s, University of Michigan was site of much student activism. read more
